This walk is very different, it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before, especially around Gippsland. Its kind of like being in the middle of the desert, it’s amazing!
You start the walk out through some bush and tall trees, not long after you make a left turn but you can also go straight, if you want to check out the old cemetery. You will then reach a sparse open area and turn right. The track will then lead you next to some farming paddocks. Its all very flat at this point, until you walk past the paddocks you then start walking up the hills towards the sand dunes.
You have a few rolling hills before you reach the last hill that will get you on top of the sand dunes. To get to the top of the last hill you might have to use your hands to help you get up, as we kept going backwards when we tried to climb up it.
Once you reach the top there is a pole at the start just so you can find your way back as it’s a little disorientating as it all looks the same when your up there. You have sandy plains all around, towards the right you have views over surrounding farms and towns. If you walk a bit further forward you have some views of the sea and if you look to the south you look back towards Mt Oberon. It’s a really cool little walk!
