This is a beautiful small walk close to the heart of Inverloch, with beautiful views across the ocean and beach.
Getting there: The actual start of this walk starts inside the Inverloch Foreshore Camping reserve, walk or drive through the boom gates of the campground and follow road. The boom gates were open when we were there and you are allowed to drive through them to access this walk. If you follow the road until the end you will come to a small dirt carpark, which is the start of the walk. There are some information boards here that will tell you a bit about it. If you don’t want to walk through the campground you can also access the walk via the beach which is really nice with the low tide when we walked it.
To access via the beach: park in the carpark just in front of the Inverloch Foreshore Camping Reserve & you will find a path near the beach. Start walking along the path which will then take you along the beach, away from the town. Walk along the beach until you reach Screw Creek and as you walk around a corner to your left you will see a bridge. Walk up the boardwalk, across the bridge and you have started your walk.
Whether you start at the car park (inside the camping reserve) or you start along the beach. You will find boardwalks & a bridge to reach your walking tracks. Have a look out on the bridge for some crabs and even some fish in the creek below, it’s a beautiful spot to stop and have a look around.
As you continue on, you will find signs to help you with directions. There is even a sign to direct you to some good fishing spots, which I really like. If you want to walk the loop you want to follow the signs for the ‘Townsend Bluff Circuit Walk’.
As you make your way along the path through some coastal vegetation. You will come to a junction which is your only decision for the walk. You can choose to go left or right – it is a circuit walk so either way you go you will end up in the same place (we went left). It’s a very simple walk. Once you pass the junction the track does go uphill but the uphill section doesn’t last very long and its not hard.
Along these 2 paths you will find beautiful views over the beach and back towards Inverloch and you will also find a magnificent old tree.
This walk is a definite must do when in Inverloch and a perfect walk to take the kids on. The day we did it, it was packed with people, so a very popular spot and I can see why.
